Duct Tape Dummy
Duct tape dummies (also known as a DTDs) are required to be submitted for all FULL costume orders. They are used as a sewing pattern to create a near perfect and custom fit of your costume.

They are NOT required for halfsuits.

A DTD is essentially an exact model of your body that takes about an hour to make with the help of a friend.

Caution: Be sure you are in a well cooled room as it can get a bit warm when inside the dummy. Best tip: relax and turn on the TV!

A $25.00 surcharge will be added for DTD's that are not taped back up.
What you will need to make a DTD:

Scissors, 2-3 rolls of good quality ducttape, Sharpie marker, yardstick, 1 hour, a friend, and an old shirt/pants or coveralls.

Tip: Recycled Tyvek® Painters Coveralls work really well and are cheap! Check out www.disposable-garments.com or look at a local hardware store.
-In short you take an old pair of pants and a long sleeve shirt or painters suit, and in a well ventilated room with a partner, use 8-18 inch long pieces of duct tape to cover your body snugly from wrist to ankle to neck.

-Keep arms mostly straight by holding a yardstick or broomhandle horizontally in front of you, and it helps your arms not get tired. Knees should be just slightly bent, and you should use normal back posture. Dont suck in any part of your body, just relax!

-When your partner is taping, we recomend beginning at the crotch, then back / chest, and moving out to arms / legs last. Make sure there is some neck too. Don't stop short on ankles and wrists as these will dictate how long the sleeves will be.

-Regarding crotches: We know it is a little strange having someone get so awfully close, but it is very important we get an accurate representation of the crotch area. So please do not stop short or make the crotch lower as it will negatively effect the fit of the costume.

- About 2-3 layers of duct tape should make a sturdy and well made dummy. Smooth out each piece as you place it and watch for lose edges.

-Then your partner will carefully cut the dummy to help you out of it. Mark across where you plan to cut so you can piece it back to gether. We suggest that you don’t cut the suit completely open; usually a line down the back, and 3/4 up each appendage is enough to wiggle out. The less cuts, the better you can put it together.

-A $25.00 surcharge will be added for DTD's sent to us that are NOT taped back up.

-Also please put your name & character name on the dummy somewhere highly visible.

-If you’d like you’re dummy back for future costumes, you must let us know BEFORE construction.
-Please make sure you deodorize the DTD with some Febreeze or Enbac. We really don't enjoy working closely with a DTD that smells awful or stinks up our home and workplace.
Send It !

From there you can squish it up very small and mail it to us. We re-stuff them in our shop to make your suit on and then they are disposed of after use.
