-In short you take an old pair of pants and a long sleeve shirt or painters suit, and in a well ventilated room with a partner, use 8-18 inch long pieces of duct tape to cover your body snugly from wrist to ankle to neck.
-Keep arms mostly straight by holding a yardstick or broomhandle and it helps your arms not get tired. Knees should be slightly bent, and you should use normal back posture. Dont suck in any part of your body, just relax!
-When your partner is taping, we recomend beginning at the crotch, then back / chest, and moving out to arms / legs last. Make sure there is some neck too. Don't stop short on ankles and wrists as these will dictate how long the sleeves will be.
-Regarding crotches: We know it is a little strange having someone get so awfully close, but it is very important we get an accurate representation of the crotch area. So please do not stop short or make the crotch lower as it will seriously effect the fit of the costume.
- About 2-3 layers of duct tape should make a sturdy and well made dummy. Smooth out each piece as you place it and watch for lose edges.
-Then your partner will carefully cut the dummy to help you out of it. Mark across where you plan to cut so we can piece it back to gether. We request that you PLEASE don’t cut the suit completely open. Usually a line down the back, and up each appendage is enough to wiggle out. The less cuts, the better we can put it together. Feel free to tape it back together for us, we appreciate it very much, though it is not required.
-Also please put your name/character name on the dummy somewhere highly visible.
-If you’d like you’re dummy back for future suits, you must let us know BEFORE construction. |
